Worship with us

Worship lies at the heart of every Christian community and our main time to gather is on Sundays at 10.30am. The meaning of the New Testament Greek word most often translated “worship” (proskuneo) is “to fall down before” or “bow down before.” Worship is an attitude of spirit. Since it’s an internal, individual action, it could/should be done most of the time (or all the time) in our lives, regardless of place or situation (John 4:21). Therefore, Christians worship all the time, seven days a week. When Christians formally gather together in worship, still the emphasis should be on individually worshipping the Lord. Even in a congregation, participants need to be aware that they are worshipping God fully on an individual basis.

We are led musically by our skilled musician Elaine Shorthouse and together we are constantly learning “the new”, along with the traditional which we know. We use audio visual technology and it allows us flexibility and creativity. Our worship is live streamed, a legacy from covid, which is now a positive normal for folks who can’t be with us in person.

Since external actions are unimportant in Christian worship, there is no rule regarding whether we should sit, stand, fall down, be quiet, or sing praises loudly while in corporate worship. The most important thing is that we worship God in spirit (in our hearts) and in truth (in our minds). Several people share in leading each Sunday and we use different versions of The Bible such as The NIV and The Message. We also use dramatic readings and video clips, so it’s a mixture of styles and it’s always changing.

It may be a cliché, but we are welcoming and warmly invite anyone to worship with us. We are ordinary people who are about strengthening our faith for everyday living. Join us anytime…
